Sunday was Andrew’s birthday and he came up to Pinkham Notch to visit for the day. We started off his birthday celebration by hiking up to Low’s Bald Spot. It was a great 3.5 hour hike and I was feeling stronger than ever. (more…)

Our third day of the mock three-day program we didn’t do very much hiking at all. We went to a nearby stream and did a ton of stream property activities. Our goal was to find out if our stream was healthy or not and test it in various ways. (more…)
Lowe’s Bald Spot
Today we began our hike to Lowe’s Bald Spot by starting on Old Jackson Road. This time we all were wearing snowshoes so falling through the snow wasn’t a problem. I was a little apprehensive about this hike because the week earlier I attempted to hike up to Lowe’s with some friends and we didn’t make it all the way. I was way too slow! All of the hills along the way really tired me out and it took us forever to get to the fork in the trail that led to the uphill climb to Lowe’s. (more…)
First day of the mock three-day program. L was the educator and A, B, A, J, JL, and K were in my group. Our goal of the day was to go through the first day of a typical three-day program for a school that wanted to focus on watersheds. (more…)
