I started my journey here to Pinkham Notch on Sunday April 5. After I unpacked the trunk, I met up with some more people later on. We played ice-breaker games and all got to know each other.
The next day we went on a hike on Old Jackson Road towards Lowe’s Bald Spot that was SUPER difficult!
There were plenty of uphills on the way there that absolutely decimated my energy. Carrying my snowshoes became a chore and I wanted to turn back early. Thankfully, Z told me that he thought the hills were over and that it would all be easy from there. (Hint: It was not.)
I learned how much of a negative mentality I have when I’m doing anything athletic. Thankfully everyone waited up for me and I got some great pictures of where the trail branched off.
I told myself that I needed to keep up with the group and try and keep a positive outlook for the rest of the trail. Thankfully, the way back was downhill and it gave my legs a rest. I know the first time back exercising is going to make you feel the worst that you possibly can, but this hike hurt like no other. I was ready for the next one.
